How To Choose Glasses That Suit Your Face Shape?

Akshay Dhiman Uncategorized 0 Comments

So, the question today is…

How to choose glasses that suit your face shape?

or

What pair of sunglasses/shades would look best on your face shape?

Personally, glasses are one of my favorite accessory that are useful in both ways…

  1. Fashion, and
  2. Function.

Think of glasses not as a visual necessity but as an amazing accessory that you get to wear on your face.

And you can instantly improve your sexiness with a right pair of glasses.

Those who don’t need glasses, you can still grab a cool pair rock ’em… who cares, jack?

Now, it’s time to figure out…

The Best Glass Frame For Your Face.

By following these steps glasses for men and glasses for women as well…

Step 1: Determine your face shape.

You may find various variations but generally there four common face shapes…

  • Heart/Diamond
  • Round
  • Square
  • Oval

And you’ll particularly find yourself in one these categories.

Here’s a little cheat sheet stolen from Aaron Marino that I found really helpful:

If you still can’t determine your face shape then take a photo of yourself directly facing the camera and use a piece of tracing paper to outline the edge of your face to work out your face shape.

Step 2: Determine best suitable glasses.

The key to determining the best suitable glasses is to find out a contrast of your face shape which maintains the balance.

In other words, if you have a round face then you must look out for more structured glass shape (square, rectangle, etc.).

And if you have a more structured jaw, then you definitely wanna go for a glass with softer edges.

This makes sense, right? Good.

People with triangular face are kinda lucky because you can mostly wear anything (but obviously not triangular shaped glasses).

Let’s take a look at each face shape with examples.

Heart / Diamond Face Shape

Tyler Oakley rocks a nice pair and it looks perfect.

Another example…

Taylor Swift rocking those sunglasses, structured upper part and a little rounded to the bottom…

Round Face Shape

Round face should choose frames that are wider than they are tall like these wore by Seth Rogen.

Notice that in this photo, the frame is more structured and rigid also, wore by Jennifer Lawrence.

Square Face Shape

If you have a square and structured face, the goal is to soften the angularity.

The sunglasses wore by Brad Pitt looks great as they are less structured.

Oval Face Shape

People with oval face shape can wear more structured glasses and less of softness.

Both Robert Downey Jr. and Zac Efron rocks those shades and looks amazing.

Step 3: Determine your face size and color.

Regardless of face shape and glass shape you need to wear glasses with the right size.

And see that you wear glasses that are size of your cheekbones and you’ll look much better.

Glasses usually come in different sizes ranging from 40-62 mm but 52 mm & 55 mm are more common.

Frame size should not be more or less than the size of cheekbones, i.e., in this picture – between the measurement lines.

You can also look out for glass frames based on your body color.

The three main factors are…

  • Skin
  • Eyes
  • Hair

Skin tone is the prime element and it falls into two main categories – cool (blue-based) and warm (yellow-based).

A mixture of blue and yellow is called olive skin (which is not very common).

Everyone looks best in their color base, so look out for color that compliments your personal color.

Conclusion

Glasses are an amazing way to add detail and character to your face.

So, these were the 3 steps to determine the perfect shape for your glasses. But, remember, that these are just recommendations, if you’ve tried a pair and you think it’s good, then it is good. If it’s bad, then it’s absolutely bad.

Now, tell me…

Are you currently using any glasses or shades on regular basis? Does their shape is a contrast to your face shape?

Also tell me your favorite sunglasses brand that you would prefer to your friend…
